Well, what can we say about this past week? We hardly ever cancel the worship services of the church BUT we did last Sunday and Wednesday because of all the ice and snow on our roads and parking lots. As it turned out, we could have safely met Sunday afternoon but we didn’t know that when the decision was made by a consensus of the men to cancel all services for the safety of our members. All we can do is what we can do at the time. This was really a different week. I don’t remember in my lifetime ever having to cancel services twice in the same week because of weather. I’m just thankful the Lord got us all through it safely.
Today, the Lord willing, we will take up right where we left off two weeks ago with all of our classes and sermons. We will continue with our “Is It Real” series this morning and we will have our Question and Answer session this evening. We will also have our men’s business meeting this afternoon at 4:00. I also wrote in last weeks bulletin that we would begin our new Sunday morning Bible class on the book of Revelation. That will also begin today since we didn’t get to meet last Lord’s Day.
Brethren, we have a lot of things to be planning for this year. We already have our gospel meeting scheduled for April 22-26. We will need some help in mailing out all the advertisements for out meeting to all of our sister congregations here in N.E. Oklahoma. We also will be mailing ads out to all of the denominations in Wagoner. Most will probably be thrown away but, you never know when someone may respond and come visit us. We also will need to begin planning for our VBS for this summer. We may have an offer of help from the congregation in Claremore. I was visiting with Mike Schroeder who preaches for the Blue Starr congregation at our preacher’s luncheon last Tuesday and he was telling me they were discussing the idea of looking for a congregation to help with a VBS this summer. This is one of the things we will be discussing in our men’s meeting this afternoon.
Brethren, our goal, as Christians, as members of the Body of Christ, is to do all we can to reach out to others with the love of Christ. We need to be looking for ways to do this every day. I don’t know who wrote this poem but it really says a lot.
MY DAILY PRAYER
If I can do some good today,
If I can serve along life’s way,
If I can something helpful say,
Lord, show me how.
If I can right a human wrong,
If I can help to make one strong,
If I can cheer with a smile or song,
Lord, Show me how.
If I can aid one in distress,
If I can make a burden less,
If I can spread more happiness,
Lord, show me how.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
