Well, our Gospel Meeting begins this coming Wednesday evening.  How many family members have you shared meeting flyers with?  How many friends and neighbors have you shared flyers with and invited them to attend this special series of lessons on Christ?  How much time have you spent in prayer asking for God’s help and blessings for this special event?  In today’s bulletin you will find an extra sheet entitled “A WEEK OF PRAYER FOR OUR MEETING” with prayer requests for this week concerning our meeting.  Please seriously consider spending this week in prayer on behalf of our efforts to share the good news of Jesus Christ through this special series of lessons.  We must remember Paul’s words in Philippians 4:13 that apply to us both individually and collectively as a congregation where he says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me!”  Brethren, if we are willing to do all we can, willing to get out and work and invite, the Lord will take care of the rest for us.  Whether people come or not, we will have done all we can, we will have put out the effort and the Lord will know and bless us for our efforts.  In addition, our worship service this evening will be a “Pray Service” dedicated to our meeting.  I hope every member will make a special effort to be here this evening to participate as we sing, read scriptures and pray together as God’s family for our gospel meeting and for those we are inviting to come.

In the latest edition of the Seek The Old Paths publication, Tom Wacaster made the following statement in his article, “The Bible has been banned from our schools while Islam is received with open arms. It has become politically incorrect to question the doctrine of Islam, but politically correct to bash God, the Bible, and Christianity. As in the days of old, the divine instructions have not been heeded and God’s people once again find themselves in the throws of a major apostasy.”  As a result of things like this happening in our world today, we are finding congregations of the Lord’s church giving in to the pressure of the world around them.  We are finding many turning away from the Lord and the truth of His word in an effort to establish “peace” with those around them.  Brethren, we must understand, peace with the world is not peace with God.  We must remember, teach and practice what the apostle John said in I John 2:15-17 where he says, “Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
17 And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever
.”  Brethren, may we all stand firm in the truth of God’s word and do all we can to bring others to do the same!

Until next week, I love you all,

Dan
