Welcome to the worship services of the Wagoner church of Christ. We hope you truly enjoy worshipping our great and magnificent God with us today.
We had our monthly men’s meeting last Sunday. While we did not have a big agenda, we did have several things that needed to be discussed.
The men had already approved some vacation time for me but I needed to make a minor shift in the dates for the time we will be gone. Now, Pam and I will be gone, on vacation, from Thursday, May 28th through Wednesday, June 3rd. Frank Everett is to check with his son, Mark, to see if he can come and preach and teach the Sunday we will be gone.
Secondly, the Blue Starr congregation in Claremore has offered to come and help us put on a VBS this summer. The best date they had open for us is Saturday, June 27th. This will be a one day, all day VBS. The men approved that date so we will now begin working with Blue Starr to get it all put together. While Blue Starr will be doing the primary teaching, we will need to do a lot to help them. Possibly with teacher assistants, providing the noon meal, providing materials, etc. Hopefully, this will be a great opportunity for us to reach out to the neighborhoods around us here and bring in children that really need some attention and teaching.
Thirdly, Donnie Bates, who oversees the Bear Valley Extension Schools, has asked to be able to come and give us a report on his work on Sunday, June 21st. The men approved this and, Lord willing, Donnie will come and give us a report on his work during our Bible class time and then preach for us during worship.
Then, along with everything else, we still have repair issues with things in our building here. Doug Kelley is going to be working on some of those. In spite of his recent surgery and his having to care for Geri with her cancer treatments, he is still planning to find time to help with things here. Brethren, this should be a great example to all of us in our service to the Lord and His church. Let Doug know how much you appreciate his efforts to serve. He will be working on leaks in our baptistery plumbing, moving the hot water tank so the heater/ac unit can be serviced and contacting our roofer about a leak we still have with our roof area on the east side of the building.
We had several men that really wanted and intended to be at our men’s meeting last week but, due to circumstances over which they had no control, they were unable to attend. But, we know they were thinking of us and were with us in spirit.
I also want to encourage everyone to be a part of our Bible class times both Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Sunday mornings we are studying Revelation in the auditorium and Wednesday evenings we are doing an intensive study of the church and what it truly is. Come join us!
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
