Yesterday was July 4th, the day on which we celebrate the great freedom we enjoy here in the United States of America. The sad thing is, there are now many here in the U.S., people born and raised here, who do not understand nor appreciate the freedom we  have.  We see them everywhere trampling on and burning our flag.  We see them gathering and challenging the very laws that give them the freedom to do the very thing they are doing.  It is obvious that our country is headed downhill on a very steep slope.  We are beginning to lose the freedom that so many thousands gave their lives for us to have over the centuries of our existence.

But, as sad and painful as this is, we need to understand that there is a much greater freedom available to all men of all nations.  A freedom that no one can take away, that no man can do away with.  That freedom is the freedom from sin, freedom from the Devil that will result in eternal life with God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and the saints of all the ages.  This happens when one listens to and obeys Christ in becoming a Christian.  “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death” (Romans 8:2);  “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).  This is a freedom that no one on the face of this earth can take from us against our will.

Yes, the government can take our physical freedom away from us.  They can pass laws to try to stop us from worshipping Almighty God, stop us from publicly proclaiming our belief and trust in Him.  They can imprison us and even take our physical lives but, they cannot take away the freedom we have in Christ.

That freedom from sin and slavery to Satan that we have in Christ is ours for eternity IF we remain faithful to Christ in every way.  Peter describes for us how we are to use the freedom we have in Christ in 1 Peter 2:16 where he says, “Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.”  We must understand, this is what life is all about, this is the purpose for which we were created and exist in this world.  This is the greatest freedom available on the face of this earth and we need to do all we can to share it will everyone we possibly can.  There is no one so bad, so horrible, so sinful that the blood of Christ cannot forgive their sins and this includes homosexuals along with all others.  All they need to do is listen to and obey Christ in becoming a Christian and they can have the greatest freedom in this world.

Brethren, I honestly, truly hope that we can turn our country, our great nation around, turn it back to that nation that will honor and respect God.  But, even if it doesn’t, we can still insure that each of us remains true to God no matter what happens around us.

Until next week, I love you all,

 Dan
