Brethren, the exact same thing is happening in the religious world around us today also. Things being written, things being claimed, things being taught that are all claimed to be true, claimed to be “Of God” but, if one truly studies the Bible, it is obvious that the vast majority of these things are not true or did not happen. One of the big things over the past couple of years is a book supposedly written by a young boy who died and went to heaven and then came back to life. The book is entitled “Heaven Is For Real!” In the book the boy talks about all the things he saw there, the various conversations he had with God and Christ, etc. This book immediately became one of the best selling books on the Market. It brought in thousands of dollars for that boy and his family. The interesting thing is, just about three weeks ago, this boy publically admitted that everything in that book is a lie. He publically admitted that not one of the things he claimed in the book actually happened. It was all a made-up, intentional lie. Yet, people all over the U.S. were buying into, believing everything they read in that book.
Now, here is the really interesting thing, anyone who has truly studied God’s word knew right away that the things claimed in that book did not happen. Everything there was contrary to what the scriptures say happens to one when he/she dies. But, this is just one of the ways the Devil uses to turn people away from God and away from His Word. We have been warned by God, Himself, through His Word that this is going to happen. He warned us that hard times were going to come, “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.” (2 Timothy 3:1). The difficult times are going to come about because of the false teachers and deceivers around us. “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13). And we are warned that many will fall away from the Lord as a direct result of giving into, believing all the false things being put out by all these deceivers and false teachers. “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,” (1 Timothy 4:1-2). Brethren, let’s insure that we are listening to God and NOT to the world.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
