In addition to the above, this also the time of the Christian Men’s retreat at Camp Rock Creek (Aug. 10-11) just east of Norman. The Lord willing, I am still planning to attend this special time of fellowship and Bible studies. I plan to leave immediately following our evening services next Sunday and will return Tuesday afternoon. Fellas, I would love to have some of you be able to go with me. There are some pretty decent bunks to sleep on and the cabins are all air-conditioned. There is great Bible study and worship time as well as great fellowship. Time to simply sit around and play and recreate - board games in the mess hall, outside games such as horseshoes, etc, a swimming pool and other things during our free time. In addition to all this, the food is always fantastic to boot. As I said, I plan to leave straight from the church building next Sunday evening. We will stop and grab some fast food on the way and drive on to the camp, should arrive around 10:00 - 10:30 Sunday night and will return home Tuesday afternoon. BUT, If you want to go, I need to know so I can get us registered ahead of time so they will know how many to plan for on the food.
The Hope Harbor truck was here last Wednesday to empty the collection bins in our parking lot. But, we also had quite a bit of stuff in our storage room on the west side of the auditorium as well as several coin cans that had been filled. The man was very impressed with all that this congregation has helped provide for Hope Harbor and their effort to provide for special needs children. There is another special event coming up on Saturday, September 26th. If you have never been to Hope Harbor (Claremore), this will be a great opportunity for you to go and see all that they have and are doing for children. It is their annual Open House that starts at 10:00 and goes until 2:00. It includes tours, fish fry and BBQ lunch plus Kid and Family activities. This year it will close out with a live auction of donated items including a boat, car and other items from 1:00-2:00. This gives everyone a chance to see what Hope Harbor is really about!
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
