Today it seems we hear a lot of conversations about what the church isn’t doing, should be doing or ought to be doing. And, normally, what one hears is true about what we can be or should be doing as the Lord’s church. But, what is the church? What comprises the church? As we have studied deeply over the past several weeks, the church is the Body of Christ but is composed of individual Christians. So, if the church should be or is to be doing something what does that mean? It means the individual Christians that compose that congregation are to be the ones doing it! A good friend and brother in Christ, Troy Rogers, who works with the Northwest congregation in Lawton wrote the following article. Please seriously consider what Troy says here.
“When Was The Last Time…”
When was the last time you prayed for a lost soul? When was the last time you helped someone who could not help you in return? When was the last time you sacrificed something you wanted in order to give to the church or someone in need? When was the last time you asked someone who attends a denomination if they would like to study the Bible with you? When was the last time you visited someone in a hospital or nursing home? When was the last time you wrote a note of encouragement to your elders? When was the last time you volunteered to serve in a new capacity? When was the last time you opened the Word of God hoping that it would change you? When was the last time you made a decision to strive to do better and do more today than you did yesterday?
“15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,
16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)

Brethren, we need to be careful about the things we say and or complain about. When we talk or complain about the church not doing this or not doing that we are talking about ourselves. That means “I” am not doing whatever it is I’m complaining about. If there are things we are to be doing as the Lord’s church then, I am to set an example of doing those things. “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”
(1 Timothy 4:12). “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,” (Titus 2:7). So, the real question is, what kind of an example am I setting for others concerning what the “church” should be doing?
Until next week, I love you all,
