Last Sunday was truly a great Lord’s Day. We had the best attendance we have had in quite some time plus a number of visitors. Pam and I had a surprise visit from some of our Broken Bow family, Regina Sharrock and her daughter, Shelby, walked in on us and it was really great to see them. They were up this way visiting with Regina’s mother who lives in Muskogee and decided to surprise us and, it worked. Being in God’s family means family, not for life, but for eternity. We really appreciated getting to see them Sunday.
We were able to have our men’s business meeting last Sunday. Several things were discussed. The church’s riding lawnmower needs repairing and to be stored. We now have Bible correspondence courses available for anyone who would like to study them. We will be making them available on our radio program but we also encourage all of our members to share this information with your friends and family. The courses are available free of charge for everyone. Also, we are needing to get some basics together as to what we believe and practice and get it in written form to be signed by the men of the congregation. This is concerning for what and how our facilities can be used as in relation to weddings, funerals, etc. This is simply something to protect this congregation in case we were to be sued in any way concerning our stand on same-sex marriages or any other things. The really big decision yet to be made will be addressed this evening after evening services. The men agreed to change the time of our men’s meetings to Sunday evening after services so that more of our men can attend. They also set up a special meeting for tonight to make a decision on getting the roof of our building replaced. Our roof is in really bad condition and the estimate we received from a contractor is $30,000 to $35,000 to replace the entire roof and repair damages that have occurred due to bad roofing. Estimates from the bank on loans have been acquired and the requirements for making the loan and will all be presented to the men in our meeting this evening. Sadly, this is not something we can wait around for due to the bad condition to our roof, especially on the east side of the building. It is going to have to be dealt with as quickly as possible to prevent further damage occurring. The men are trying very hard to find the best ways possible to get it all repaired as quickly as possible.
As you can see, we have a lot of things going on that we need to take care of and, many are in the physical realm. But that is life in this world. We must not let the physical over-ride the spiritual BUT, the physical still has to be taken care of to the best of our ability. Please keep our men in your prayers as they try to deal with all these things, pray for the Lord’s help in making wise decisions that will help us in the best ways possible.
Until next week, I love you all,
