We, as a congregation, try to help others in a lot of different ways. Of course, first and foremost is doing all we can to help share the Gospel of Christ in every way possible. Another way is doing what we can to help those in need. One way we are doing this is by helping Hope Harbor Children’s Home in Claremore. Hope Harbor provides help for hurting children and families in several different ways. They provide homes for children and also provide professional counseling for those children and hurting families. So, how much do you know about Hope Harbor? Want to know more? You will have a great opportunity to see and learn about Hope Harbor on Saturday, September 26th. They will be hosting their annual open house on that day and it begins at 10:00. You will be given tours of their facility and all kinds of activities will be provided for children and families. Included in the day will be a fish fry and BBQ lunch and awards presentation and then they will close out the day with a live auction from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. In this auction they will be auctioning items donated by people for the support of Hope Harbor. All proceeds from the auction will go to Hope Harbor to help them care for children and families. If you want to really know more about this special work we help support, I really encourage you to attend this special day. There is a flyer on the bulletin board with all the information on it.
Last Friday was the 14th anniversary of the terrorists attacks of 9/11/01. A day that will live in infamy. But, we have several of those “infamy” days. For instance, 12/7/41 when the U.S. was attacked by Japan and 6/26/15 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages. All this is solid proof that Satan is in control of this world just as it states in God’s word. Jesus refers to Satan as “the ruler of this world” in John 12:31; 16:11. And then John states in his letter of 1 John in chapter 5:19, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” Brethren, we are living in a world consumed with sin and destruction. We see it from every direction. The big question is, what are we going to do about it, how are we going to handle it? Are we going to just turn our heads, pretend it isn’t happening OR are we going to stand up for God, stand up for what is right, stand up and be the people our God wants us to be? Think about it!
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
