I know that all this has turned what we all had planned upside down at times. The men who volunteered to preach and teach in my place have had to change, revise and do things differently over and over but, they still have their lessons ready and will be able to use them when necessary to do so. I really appreciate their willingness and desire to help and serve the church here. But, welcome to the real world. Looking back over my life I can see where these exact things have happened over and over again. If you look back at your life, you will see where your plans have turned topsy-turvy for you as well throughout your life. This is where we must trust the Lord and His promises to us. We must never forget what He promised us in Romans 8:28 where He said to us through the apostle Paul, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” In other words, no matter how bad things get, no matter how hard or difficult things may get, no matter how bad our plans may be totally turned upside down, God will help some good to come out of it one way or another.
We have a tremendous example of how the Lord works through the bad stuff with all that happened in Haiti. We received a letter from the N. Haiti congregation this week thanking us for the funds we were able to send them to help with all the hurricane damage. They spent over $10,000 helping people there get things they desperately needed. Did the Lord bring good out of all the bad. Yes! They have had many become Christians including some denominational preachers and some voodoo priests. One of the elders does a radio program there and the owner of the radio station sent them a letter of appreciation for all the good that program has done and telling them even the radio staff stops to listen to it.
So, brethren, may we all continue to do the best we can with what we have and trust the rest to the Lord.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
