It was really great to have our daughter and Son-in-law, Lacy and Jonathan Crowell, here with us a week ago, last Wednesday evening.  Jonathan gave us a report on his work as West Africa Coordinator for World Bible Institute.  He makes two trips a year to Ghana to help with the Preacher Schools they operating there.  We learned that thousands of people have baptized into Christ, in just this last year, as a result of all the coordinated efforts to share the gospel in that part of the world.  We also learned that the people living there and the preachers working in those areas are working very hard not to be dependant upon U.S. dollars for their support.  Jonathan showed us a lot of pictures of the work taking place including all the manual labor in building their own buildings and raising crops to pay for what they are doing.  One of the men pictured quite often was Greg Knight.  Greg is a good friend who used to preach full time in Texas.  Now, Greg works full time for WBI and spends several months out of the year working, helping build those buildings and teaching the people how raise their crops more effectively.

Brethren, it was pretty obvious, the small amount of funds we are investing in this work are bringing about a tremendous amount of good for the Lord’s Kingdom and, as a result, many, many souls are being saved.
Of course, during Jonathan and Lacy’s trip,  it was Lacy who was involved in a mission effort in the Cayman Islands.  She was asked to come and help with a group of ladies in the church who are going through some real struggles.  Hopefully, she will be able to provide the help and counseling they need to help them get where they need to be.  But, while there, Jonathan was also able to do some preaching and teaching. I picked them up last Wednesday evening after, after services, at the Tulsa airport. Please keep Lacy and our sisters in Christ there in the Cayman Islands in your prayers.

Brethren, as we look around us, see our world in which we are living here in the U.S. today, it is really easy to get discouraged and want to just throw up our hands and quit.  Just last week, a sister in Christ who oversees a children’s home in Haiti was shot and killed and one of the children with her kidnapped as she was filling her vehicle with gas there in Haiti.  We hear of all the shootings taking place (two just this month at two colleges), we see all the resistance to anything religious (the 10 Commandments being removed from our State Capital), and we tend to think there is no hope.  Hopefully, seeing what is being done in other places will give us great encouragement and help us see that there is always hope!  What we need to focus on is insuring that we stand with and for our God in every way possible.  We must remember, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Until next week, I love you all,

 Dan
