Another thing discussed was personal security for our church family during our services both Sunday and Wednesday. Many of us come in through the side door on the east side and leave that door open. A couple of weeks ago some people (not members) came in there during our Wednesday evening Bible classes and stood around back in the hallway. If Gary Rowe had not seen them no one would have known they were there. He did go back and talk to them and they left. In our world, our society today a lot of weird and bad things are happening in situations such as this. The men decided that the east side door will be open when we are coming in but, once classes or worship begins, that door will be closed and locked. We will have a sign on the door that says enter at front doors during services. This is to just give us, especially our Bible class teachers, more comfort and security during our worship services and Bible classes. It is sad that we have to do things such as this but, in the craziness of our world today we need to do the best we can to keep each other safe from harm.
Our Gospel Meeting for this year was discussed. We are hoping to get brother Dalton Key from 10th and Rockford to preach our meeting for us on the topic of the Holy Spirit. He could not come on the original date we had set so the date was changed from spring to fall (September) and hopefully brother Key will be able to work with us on this.
Another suggestion made was to change our services on every fifth Sunday evening to a singing and prayer service. All of the men thought this was a really good idea. So, beginning this month, Sunday night, January 31st, our evening worship service will consist of singing and prayers. I want to encourage all of our men to plan for this by making their own personal prayer lists, possibly reading a scripture that is special to them and all who are able and willing to plan to lead 1 or 2 songs during this special service. We will also try to have a board up where we can write down requested songs to sing during this time also. I think it will be a very special worship time.
As you can see, a lot was discussed and accomplished in this special meeting.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
