Brethren, I want to share a complement with all of you that was given in reference to this congregation last Lord’s Day.  We had two visitors from out of town that were here for the big Blue Grass festival that was taking place.  They were on their way home (which was 3 hours away) and stopped at the “first church” they saw to worship which happened to be us.  After services all these two ladies could talk about was how moving our worship service was and how much they enjoyed worshipping with us. They really wanted to stay for our fellowship meal but had to get on the road home.  Now, here is the kicker on all of this.  I learned later that these ladies were not members of the church but belonged to a denomination where they lived.  Brethren, this was a tremendous complement to this congregation and to what happens when we worship according to God’s word and do it with all of our heart.  They said not one word about “why don’t you use instruments?”  or “Why did you serve communion today/” or any other such questions or challenges.  All they could talk about was how moving and devoted our worship to God was.  As I said, a tremendous complement to this congregation!

Our auditorium Bible class on Wednesday evening has been dealing with the church and why we do what we do the way we do it.  I hope we have learned it is because our desire is to be as true to God and His Word in every way possible.  As you have seen, we looked at Biblical commands, instructions and examples for everything we do and practice as the Body of Christ.  We will complete this study in the next week or two.  But, this study is going to lead us right into a follow-up study on Church History.  We will have learned exactly what the church is and how it is to exist and work.  Now we will begin with a detailed study of exactly how the church came to be and how it got to where it is today.  This new class will begin with a detailed study of the establishment of the church itself and then cover approximately the next 1000 years of church history.  We will see how and when the church begin to go astray from the truth of God’s Word and attempts to reform those who went astray.  You will find it to be some very interesting history and will also help us to understand how our world got to where it is today religiously.

Is it possible for the true church of our Lord to exist today? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!  If we will follow God’s word and nothing else, we can and will be a part of the true Body of Christ built by Christ Himself.  We can and will be a part of God’s household, God’s family if we follow Christ and Christ only!

Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
