First of all, we have what appears to be a very serious water leak somewhere underneath the building. We were contacted by WPWA about running 10-30 gallons of water an hour. This is going to take some hard, expensive work to fix and Doug Kelley is heading it up. We also contacted GuideOne, our insurance company, to see what can be done there to help cover the cost of the repairs. The good news is that a Leak Detection Company was brought in and no major leaks were discovered. Now, we just need to do more to check out all of our restrooms and other things.
Secondly, the men discussed our 4th Sunday “All-Day Services and Fellowship Luncheons" for November and December. With the two major holidays and traveling and company many will be experiencing the men were all in agreement to cancel these special days for November and December. They wanted to make things easier for the families and, especially, the ladies who will be doing so much cooking and preparation for the big holiday meals. So, no all-day services or luncheons for November and December. Will resume in January.
Thirdly, a really good problem we have is the need of Bible Class teachers for younger children. We’ve had a wonderful addition of smaller children, especially in the ages of 5 - 9 years old. We have a couple of our ladies who have been teaching but, they don’t need to get burned out and everyone needs a break for a while. So, we need some volunteers to help teach these younger children. We are in the process of ordering Bible class materials everyone will have to work on, study and prepare with. If you are willing to help with this please let the men know.
Fourthly, the men discussed the very serious issue of security for us here during our worship and Bible study times. This, of course, following the horrible shooting that occurred down in Texas last Sunday morning. This, as you know, is not the first of these. And, it appears these shootings occurring at various churches have nothing to do with religion, their belief in God or Christ but, one just looking for a large group of people gathered where they can attack and kill as many as possible. Our men are very concerned and want us to be as safe as possible. They discussed several options and put a couple of things in place for now and will be seriously considering what we can do to provide as much security as possible for us here during our worship times. Gary Rowe is going to talk with our Chief of Police to see if he has any suggestions to help us with this.
Until next week, I love you all,
