Last Sunday evening we had our monthly men’s business meeting. We had really good attendance and some good things accomplished. More safety issues were discussed such as getting all of our fire extinguishers active and working along with some other things such as leaking faucets and commodes in our restrooms. Getting our roofing repair work paid was discussed and we will begin getting that done over this next week. While it has been a very expensive project, it was one of those things we could not put off or avoid. The Lord has blessed us with being able to easily get the funds to pay for it, we just have to get it done. We are also hoping to encourage all of our members to reach out and share the gospel with friends and neighbors by making the WBVW DVD’s “Searching For Truth” available for everyone to use. These are a great tool to use in teaching others. There are five lessons on the DVD dealing with God, Authority, the Church, the House of God and Baptism. They are very plain, easily understood lessons and along with them we will have books of the same lessons that people can have to read and answer questions dealing with each of these lessons. We will make all these available soon as they arrive. Also, our Gospel Meeting is set for this year on Wednesday, Sept. 21 - Sunday, Sept. 25. Dalton Key of 10th and Rockford in Tulsa will be our speaker and the theme for this series of lessons will be, “The Bible, What Does It Say About The Holy Spirit?” We are hoping this topic may attract some from our community around us. The Holy Spirit is a very popular topic among the denominations and, hopefully, it will draw them to come and hear what the Bible has to say about this person of the Godhead.
Brethren, as you can see, we have a lot of “issues” to deal with in our congregation here. But, all I can say is, “welcome to the club!” What we have here is no different than any other congregation I have ever been a part of. These physical issues are just a part of life in this world that we all have to deal with. While all of these things must be dealt with and, dealt with in as good a way as possible, we must not let all of these physical things take our focus off of what matters MOST! What is more important than all of this? What matters more that all of this? Serving Almighty God and saving souls for eternity! What is the purpose of the church? Is this building the “church”? Absolutely not!! Our Bible classes on Wednesday evening have been dealing with a serious study of the “church!” I hope that our knowledge and understanding of what the church is has really grown and matured during this study. Now, having studied the “details” of what the church is, what it is to teach and practice we are ready to progress on to a study of the “history” of the church. In these studies we will begin with the establishment of the church and then move to its history over the next several hundred years. I hope you will all strive to be here for these special studies on Wednesday evenings.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
