One of the concerns for our congregation that was brought up was the problem we have of hurting for men to work and serve. So many of our men who have worked so hard for years are no longer able to get up and go, walk or work as they used to due to various health issues. We are hurting for men to lead prayers, teach classes and especially to help in serving the Lord’s Supper. We need all who can and are willing to help out to let it be known to the men and also to work hard to be at services early enough to let those leading services know they are present and in place to serve. In addition to this, the men agreed last Sunday evening that many would like to try to give the short devotionals and invitation on Wednesday evenings. There is now a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the foyer where those who want to participate can sign up for a specific Wednesday evening to give the devotional. I think it is going to be wonderful to hear various men give a short 5 - 10 minute lesson on things they have studied and worked on.
Our upcoming Gospel meeting was also discussed. It is set for September 21-25. At our meeting in August we will need to get all of the advertising together. So, that gives all of us a few weeks to think about various ways for us to advertise this special effort of sharing the Gospel with our community. The meeting schedule has already been sent to House to House/Heart to Heart and will be in the issue mailed out to the 1000 homes here in Wagoner. But, we need to get it out in other ways also. So, I encourage all of our men, all of our families to really think about what we can do to advertise, invite, and inform all those around us about this special effort and try to get them to come. One of the things already in place is to send flyers to all the congregations of the Lord’s church in our area and to all the denominations here in Wagoner. Other things to think about - newspaper ads, door knocking, individuals passing our flyers in their own neighborhoods, etc. All of this we can discuss at our next meeting. It was a good meeting with good things being discussed. With the Lord’s help we, this congregation, will accomplish some good things in the days to come.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
