Question, do you have a Bible?  You are probably thinking, “Uh, yeah, Fredman, I’ve got, not one, but several Bibles!”  Do you realize how blessed you are to have those Bibles?  Do you realize what a privilege it is for all of us here to just be able to run to most any local store...Mardel’s, Freeway Christian and even Walmart and buy a Bible?  There are people in countries all around the U.S. that want Bibles and can’t get them.  A man named Tony Fernandez was driving a “Hope For Life” vehicle (a Herald of Truth ministry) in Cuba.  Listen to his story.

“Other drivers had signaled to me that there was a police checkpoint on one of the bridges.  Sure enough, while I was still far away, one policeman began to wave me over.  I quickly gathered up the documents that I would need to show him, but the officer said, “Please, put away your papers.  I just want you to get me a Bible.  That’s my life’s dream, but I’ve never been able to get one.”
Every day I’m more impressed by the spiritual hunger of our people.  I never imagined that stories like this would happen to me:  an on-duty policeman asking me for a Bible.  Incredible.”

Ok, you say you have a Bible or Bibles!  What do you do with them?  Do they just lay around on coffee tables, book shelves, etc?  Or do you honestly, truly honor God’s word by deeply studying it and making it a part of your every day life?  Why did this Cuban Police officer want a Bible?  Obviously he wanted it to read and study.  What about people in other parts of the world that don’t have Bibles and want them so badly?  There was a short video posted on Facebook a few weeks ago of people in China getting the first copies of the Bible they had ever had.  Those people were literally grabbing those Bibles, hugging them to their chests and weeping and crying over them.  And, many of them were sitting down right there where they got them and beginning to read them.  This was how much it meant to them to have a Bible!

Brethren, there is only ONE thing that will get us to heaven for eternity and that ONE thing is God’s Word, the Bible!  Think about it, where does true faith and trust in God and Christ come from?  “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).  Add to this that only those who obey Christ will be saved eternally.  “And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,” (Hebrews 5:9).  How do we find out what we must do to Obey Christ, what Christ demands of us in obedience?  Only through His word.  It is by His word we will be judged. “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day” (John 12:48).  Where do we find the words of Jesus, only one place, the Bible.
We are very honored and privileged to have God’s word so abundantly available to us!  Where are you doing with it, how much time do you give to it?
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
