The men also approved Diana Shea putting some collection boxes in the foyer for box tops and can labels that can be sent to Hope Harbor. She will have the boxes there and some examples of what we need to look for concerning the box tops and can labels. Just another way of helping a great work in helping provide for hurting children and families.
A suggestion was offered for us all to think about in changing our monthly all-day service to the 1st Sunday of the month and our men’s meeting to the last or 4th Sunday. The idea is that with the way Social Security and other funds are dispersed for those on retirement, it is easier to have funds available to help buy food for the meal around the first instead of the last of the month. Please think about this and let the men know your opinion about it.
Donnie Bates requested to come on Sunday, May 29th to give us a report on his work with Bear Valley which the men also approved. This will work out great because that will have Donnie here to teach and preach in my place on Sunday morning. The sad part is, I won’t be here to see one of my best friends.
As we closed out the meeting, I had a final request of the men and one that I want to extend to all in the congregation. That request is for any suggestions of changes that need to be made in the sermons presented. My goal is to help this congregation in any and every way possible. So, if any one in this congregation has any suggestions as to topics, method of presentation, etc. I want you to share them with me. It is really easy for preachers to get caught up going one way or another and not see a need that is there. So, I am open to any and all suggestions you might have that can help me reach out to our family here and to others as well in a better way. Our goal as individual Christians and collectively as a congregation must be to help each other grow and mature as Christians and then, reach out to those who are lost in every way possible. This begins with each of us doing all we can to help each other individually and then the church as a whole.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
