What a great week we have had!  At least when I was writing this, nothing serious weather wise had hit our area!  We definitely keep all those who were hit by so many tornadoes and serious storms in our prayers.  The greatest thing of this past week was seeing a man turn his life around and become obedient to God!  I am talking about a man who was and is honest and sincere about his desire to be right with God.  A man who, even though he honestly thought he was right with God, was willing to listen not to himself or his feelings but truly wanted to listen to God.  The man I am talking about is Gary Rowe.  I do not have the words to  tell you what an encouragement this man has been and is to me.  Last Tuesday Gary chose to go with me on my weekly trip to Broken Arrow to visit Lena Parsons and make the Preacher’s Luncheon there.  We had a great trip, a great visit with Lena, and a good visit with the brethren at the luncheon.  On the way home, we had some really good discussions about what the Bible says about when one’s sins are forgiven and the purpose of baptism.  These discussions were prompted by discussions Gary had with Doug Kelley,  Mike Cooper, and by the Truth for Today and Jule Miller Videos we have been watching in our Wednesday evening Bible classes.  Gary, by a sincere study of God’s word, decided that his previous baptism was not for the right reasons and  he determined he needed to be baptized into Christ for the right reasons.  It was such an honor to have the privilege of baptizing this very devoted, sincere man into Christ last Tuesday afternoon.  Of course, we celebrate with Gary and all of his family over the serious decision he made last Tuesday.

But, the whole point of all I have been saying here is, this is what can and will happen when people serious about their souls, serious about their relationship with God, sit down and seriously study God’s word, and listen to what God has said, not what some man or some religious group says.  It is so easy for people to get lead away from God because of the fun, games, and feel good preaching by a lot of people and religious organizations today.  We all need to understand that all of us, everyone of us, is going to stand before God in Judgement.  And, when we are there, we will not be judged by what we feel, what we think, or what looks good to us.  Jesus, Himself, made it very plain that we will be judged by one thing and one thing only.  Listen to the words of Jesus, himself in John 12:48 where He said, “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.”  To be right with God, to be saved eternally, one must listen to and obey Christ and His Word.  Seven times in John 14-15 Jesus emphasizes the essentiality of keeping His word, and obeying Him.

We must all ask ourselves, am I honestly, truly fully obeying Christ in everything, in every way.

Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
