What are your plans for 2017? Maybe a better question would be, did you accomplish everything you intended for 2016? If not, why not? Was it possibly because you planned more than one could accomplish or, was it because you allowed yourself to be side-tracked with other things during the year? So many times our intentions are good but, the carrying out of those intentions doesn’t happen. Not because we couldn’t do it, but because we lost our focus on what was really important. As Jesus said, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” (Matt. 26:41). We must understand, Satan will do everything within his power to side-track us from what is important. He will use work, sports, community activities, family, school activities, or whatever he can find that appeals to us to remove our focus from the only thing that really matters in this life.
It is my prayer that we will be able to help and encourage one another to ignore the world and focus on Christ in this new year the Lord has given us. “23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:23-25). It is my prayer that every member of this congregation will grow and mature spiritually during this new year of 2017. With the Lord’s help and one another’s encouragement we can accomplish this in every way.
I also want to thank each of you for the wonderful love and encouragement you have shown Pam and I over this past year. You are a wonderful group of Christian people and it is a privilege to be a part of this congregation.
Be of good courage and may the Lord bless you richly.
Until next week, I love you all,
