I’m Early
I’m early to the game and
Early to eat.
I’m early to the airport so
I won’t miss my seat.
I’m early to buy and early to sell.
I’m early when it benefits
Me fairly well.
I’m early to fish and sit
In a stand.
I’m early in line to get my
My new phone in hand.
But, I can’t be there early to
Worship my Lord,
Which helps Him decide
My eternal reward.
Now, please don’t misunderstand what brother Cates is saying here. He IS NOT saying one must be early to church to be right with God! He is demonstrating the priorities in this person’s life. This person is willing to put out the effort to be early at all this other stuff but, obviously, worshipping the Lord is not that important to him. All these other things were important enough to put out extra effort but worshipping the Lord was not!
The real question is, how precious is your soul to you? Do you really believe you have, are a soul? Do you really believe in God and that He wants to save your soul? Do you truly understand that your purpose for existing, for being a living soul in this world is for ONE purpose - to serve God and be with Him for eternity. “Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made” (Isaiah 43:7). Notice, we have been, are created for the purpose of glorifying our God. We must understand, our “Christianity” is not something we claim or just talk about. It is something that is lived, shown to those around us, proven by the true priorities in our lives. And, it is not just our souls that depend on the priorities we demonstrate in our lives. The souls of our family, our friends, our neighbors may well depend on what they SEE, not what they hear, but that which they SEE in our lives. If they hear us talk about how important God is to us and then see us putting things of the world first in our lives ahead of God, we are demonstrating to them that we don’t really believe all that we claimed to believe. And, their souls can be lost in hell because of what they saw in us. Is this what you want for your life, your family and your friends?
Pam and I wish you all a great Thanksgiving Holiday!
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
