Another thing discussed is a letter from the city of Wagoner asking if the church here would be willing to serve as an emergency shelter site for the city. A place for them to send people needing shelter after suffering terrible damage from storms, tornadoes, flooding, etc. To do this we would need a list of people willing to sign up as contact persons and those willing to come and supervise those being sheltered here. It will also meaning cooking and providing food during their time here. The men will decide on this also this afternoon. If you have input on this please let us know.
There were two other things we have discussed but not been able to get accomplished. We are needing more books for our Sunday morning Bible class in the fellowship hall and we also need a speaker put into our nursery on the side of the auditorium. Both of these will be checked into as quickly as possible. We were able to get the books ordered this week from the Gospel Advocate Bookstore in Nashville, TN. They should be here in just a few days. We will need to get someone qualified to work on the speaker system to show us what we need to do to get the speaker in the nursery.
Brethren, I just don’t have the words to tell you how encouraging it was to sit and listen to our men, the ones that could be there, in their desire to do everything within their power to help this congregation grow, mature and serve the Lord in a better way. The Lord blessed us in several very special ways during 2017 and I fully believe that, with the determination of the members of this congregation, the Lord will help us accomplish even more for 2018.
BUDGET AND PLANNING SESSION
The men set our planning and budget session for 2:00 this afternoon. At this time our men will put our new budget together and plan our work for 2018. We need all of our men there if possible.
BIBLE READING PLANNER
Courtlan Thompson put together a Bible Reading Planner that is on the bulletin board in the foyer. Just put your name on it and check off whatever books of the Bible you have read or are reading. They do not have to be read in any particular order. Just choose a book to read, Old Testament or New Testament, and when you get it read go check it off on the Planner.
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
