Question, do you honestly, truly want to go to heaven?  If you answered yes to this then, a second question, what will you have to do to go to heaven?  Will one who just “claims” to be a Christian go to heaven?  Will one who is a “kinda sorta” a Christian go to heaven?  I think we all know the answer to these questions.  Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”  Just exactly what did Jesus mean when He said “seek first” these things?  I think we all know the answer to this.  He meant we must put Him and all that pertains to Him first above everything else in our lives.  He must come first above our family, our jobs, our recreation, etc.  He very plainly said in  Matthew 10:37 that anyone who loves father or mother, son or daughter more than Him is not worthy of Him.  Are we to love our family?  Absolutely!  But, we are to love God, love Christ MORE than we love them.  Now, do I really love Christ more than family or things when I put family or things ahead of Him in my life?  What kind of a message am I sending to my family, to my friends when they see me choosing time with them or time with the world over time with Christ?  Now, another question, do you want to see your family, your friends spend eternity in the fires of hell or the joys of heaven?  Is your example going to bring them closer to Christ or closer to the world?  If you were to sit down and add up the amount of time spent on yourself and the amount of time you spent serving Christ last week, what would the results be?  We have 24 hours a day and 7 days a week which equals 168 hours a week.  How much of this time did you spend in worship of God, in prayer and study of God’s word?  If all a person does is attend one worship service  a week, it means they are  using .01% of their time for God and 99.9% of their time for themselves.  Is this really seeking God first above all things in this world?  What kind of an example is this setting for all those around us?

We must understand, the Devil is using everything around us to lead us away from God, Christ and His church.  And, the big thing is, the Devil isn’t using “bad” stuff to do this.  He uses things that are good in and of themselves, things that are fun, supportive, and even maybe good for us physically is some ways.  But, he gets us to turn our attention to these things instead of God.  We are to love God, love Christ above everything in this world including even our physical family.  Think about what Jesus said in Matthew 10:37 where He said, “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”  The Apostle Paul said, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith, examine yourselves!  Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless, indeed you fail the test” (1 Corinthians 13:5).  Do you fail or pass the test?

Until next week, I love you all,
