First of all, the Bible is the ONLY BOOK that comes to us from the mind of God. All other books were written and produced by human beings in spite of what some claim. The Bible was given to us by God through the apostles and prophets inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21, “But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” (1 Corinthians 2:6-13; Galatians 1:11-12; Ephesians 3:1-5).
Secondly, the Bible is the ONLY BOOK that comes to us not just from the mind of God but also from the heart of God. Paul, speaking of God’s people in Romans 9:23-26, says that God called out His people to make known “the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us, (Christians) whom He also called…” Demonstrating the great love of God for them and us today. The great declaration of God’s heart of love is given to us in John 3:16. God loves us from His heart to the point He was willing to allow His Son to be sacrificed for us, for our sins in order to save us.
Thirdly, the Bible is the ONLY BOOK that tells us ALL things we must know, need to know, believe and do to be saved eternally in heaven. “Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3). It is the Bible and the Bible only that tells us how to become a child of God and how to mature that child and make him/her complete. Nothing else can provide for our spiritual needs other than the Bible, the Word of God.
Fourthly, the Bible is the ONLY BOOK by which humans will be judged. The part of the Bible by which you will be judged is the New Testament; “He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.” (John 12:48). “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.” (Revelation 20:12). Our judgment will be according to whether we did OR did not do, obey the commands of Christ.
A lot of serious things to think about here. May we all look seriously at ourselves and insure we are obeying our Lord and His Word in every way!
Until next week, I love you all,
Dan
